一、破题关键

穿衣体现性格? 此类话题可以说是老生常谈，在近十年前新托福官方指南公布的题库中就有类似的题目：

Do you agree or disagree with the following statement? One should never judge a person by external appearances.

你是否同意以下观点?永远不应该从外表判断一个人。

People behave differently when they wear different clothes. Do you agree that different clothes influence the way people behave?

衣着不同，人们的表现也会不同。不同的衣着影响人们的行为方式，你同意吗?

此后类似话题经过反复包装又在大陆、北美等各个考区多次出现，因此认真备考的各位考生应该对其并不陌生。

然而实战证明，还是有相当一部分考生因为此题铩羽而归，甚至出现严重的跑题、偏题现象。其实破解此题的关键就在于严格按照题目原意表明观点、分析论述。考官希望考生谈论的是穿衣方式是或不是一个人个性、人品的体现，而非应该怎样穿衣，或者穿名牌好不好，从衣着上攀比好不好等。因此围绕“是或不是”进行是非判断，并配合大量举例论证，说明什么样的穿衣方式体现(或体现不出)什么样的个性、人品，同时减少“应该或不应该”等价值判断才是冲刺高分的关键。

二、语料整理

During a job interview, for example, decisions have to be made very quickly. If the applicant dresses in bright color and shows his optimistic character, he will be more likely to get the position, although he might not be the best qualified candidate overall.

People are all to often to draw conclusions based on prior experiences and stereotypes.

It is not difficult to imagine that doctors with the formal suit will certainly make their patients relaxed, for doctors in working hours are always supposed to be in white suits. An applicant in the first treatment will be naturally accompanied with great mental tension. So merely a suit in itself can not indicate the personality of a doctor.

A poor gentleman dressed in rags can not show up the fundamental moral disciplines which an educated individual must follow. He, without any doubt, knows the essential principles that a civilized individual must behave, but one penny for bread is the biggest problem that he should consider.

三、论点分析

穿衣是否体现性格?此话题有很强的局限性，因此我们有以下两种论述：

同意：穿衣方式是一个人个性、人品的体现。

【理由】：

穿衣风格体现个性，例如乔布斯喜爱在产品发布会上穿着休闲衬衫，搭配牛仔裤，体现了他爱自由、爱创新的性格。

衣服的颜色体现个性，衣着颜色鲜艳的人，通常比较开朗活泼，经常穿深色衣服的人，通常比较严肃。

衣服的设计体现个性，喜欢时装品牌的人，通常比较前卫时尚，喜欢穿着职业套装的人，通常比较传统保守。

反对：穿衣方式不是一个人个性、人品的体现。

【理由】：

穿衣方式很多情况下是职业要求，例如警察、保安、学生等，统一的职业服装不能体现出人的个性。

很多人由于工作繁忙、时间紧张并不在意衣着，因此随意的穿衣方式不是个性的准确体现。

有些人由于经济困难，并不能按照自己的意愿选择穿衣方式，因此受经济条件限制的穿衣方式不是个性的准确体现。
