连系动词

Linking Verbs are verbs that express a state of being.

连系动词是表示一种存在状态的动词。

They are called "linking" verbs because they link the subject of the sentence to a word or phrase in the predicate that renames or describes the subject (tells us more about the subject's "state of being").

之所以被称为连系动词，是因为它连接了句子主语和谓语中描述主语的一个词或短语(描述主语的存在状态)。

Examples of Linking Verbs:

All forms of the verb "be" are always linking verbs.

动词“be”的所有形式通常都是连系动词。

Other verbs can be linking verbs or action verbs:

To find a linking verb:

找出连系动词：

1) If the verb is a form of be (be, being, been, am, is, are, was, were), you have a linking verb.

1)如果动词是be的一种形式(be, being, been, am, is, are, was, were)，这个词就是连系动词。

2) For other verbs, if you can replace the verb with a form of "be" and the sentence makes sense, you have a linking verb.

Examples with explanation:

John is nice.

John与人为善。(Is把John和一个描述他的形容词联系在一起。)

Lauren was at the theater.

Tanner觉得自己生病了。(Feels把Tanner和一个描述他的形容词连接在一起。)

Mr. Peters is our teacher.

The flower looks beautiful.

Is the flower "looking"? No.

"looking"的主语是花 吗?不是。

Could you say "The flower is beautiful."? Yes.

可以说"The flower is beautiful."吗?可以。

In this sentence, "looks" is a linking verb.
