一、课文阅读练习
'Perfume, eh?'he asked sarcastically.
'You should have declared that. Perfume is not exempt from import duty.'
'But it isn't perfume,' I said.' It's hair-oil.' Then I added with a smile,'It's a strange mixture I make myself.'
As I expected, he did not believe me.
'Try it!' I said encouragingly.
The Officer unscrewed the cap and put the bottle to his nostrils. He was greeted by an unpleasant smell which convinced him that I was telling the truth.

二、单词和习惯用语
1.Should have done sth 本应该做某事

eg:You should have knelt down and begged her to stay when she left with tears in her eyes.
当她眼中带泪的离去时,你本应该跪下来,求她留下

2.Know better than to do sth 表示不会笨到做某事的地步;应该不会去做某事
eg:I know better than to do such a thing.我不会糊涂到干出这种事情来。

3.exempt adj. 被免除的,被豁免的
词组:Be exempt from …
They are exempt from income taxes. 他们免于负担所得税

4.greet 呈现在…面前;映入…眼帘
eg:To my dismay, when I opened the door, I was greeted by a disastrous sight.
令我郁闷的是,当我打开门,一幅灾难性的画面映入我的眼帘。
On entering the room, I was greeted by the pleasant smell of fresh fruits.
一进门,我就闻到新鲜水果好闻的味儿。
The first thing to greet the president after his inauguration was the global economic crisis.总统就职后遇到的第一件事就是全球性经济危机。
