Edward Snowden: the whistle-blower

US whistleblower Edward Snowden said the US government had been hacking into computers in Hong Kong and on the Chinese mainland for years.

美国告密者爱德华•斯诺登表示，美国政府已入侵香港和中国大陆的电脑系统多年。

【讲解】

Whistleblower指“告发者，告密者”，也就是向公众或政府部门揭发非法活动（illegal activities）或不当行为（misconduct）的人，“检举、告发某人”就是blow the whistle on somebody，如：The government is encouraging people to blow the whistle on corruption. （政府鼓励人民举报贪污。）。前两年，我国监察机关提议的“实名举报”就是real-name whistleblowing。

斯诺登称，美国国家安全局（National Security Agency, NSA）在全球进行超过61000个入侵电脑行动（hacking operations）。
