　　Video games give children’s brain a real workout because the skills required to win most games involve abstract and high-level thinking, including planning and resource management skills and hand-eye coordination skills. In other words, children could develop these two crucial skills when playing video games. Firstly, in many video games, children need to plan and manage limited resources and decide the best way to use them. Such a skill is particularly honed in strategy games such as SimCity. In this game, a child, acting as mayor of the city, needs to allocate different resources to construct roads and provide utilities to each resident, with the purpose of city development and population expansion. Indeed, SimCity has inspired many of its players to take a career in urban planning and architecture. Secondly, hand-eye coordination skills would be significantly enhanced when children are playing some of the shooting games. In most shooting games, players are required to keep track of the position of the characters who are running and shooting at the same time. In order to win the game, they need to coordinate their brains’ reactions with the movement of their hands and fingertips, which can substantially develop their hand-eye coordination skills.
